Christmas Candle Light Tour

Well there are just two more sleeps until Christmas.  Last evening my daughter and I had a memorable evening.  We went to dinner at M’s Pub here in Omaha.  It’s one of my favorite places to eat particularly around the holidays.  This Omaha staple burned down in a horrible explosion and fire a few years ago.  But, it’s back!  Same location and they worked tirelessly to bring it back to it’s original look.  In our Old Market district it is filled with brick walls, old windows, and scuffed old wood floors.  I could live there.

My daughter treated me with tickets for us to Manheim Steamroller.  Another Omaha institution and tradition they play for two nights here every year at the famous Orpheum Theater.  I have long loved their music and am ashamed to admit that I have never been to their concert.  To say that I was in aw of the genius it takes to create this music is an understatement.  While watching the performance I began to understand just how complex this music is.  Listening is one thing but seeing it performed live is a feast for the senses.  HOW DO THEY DO THAT?!

So it’s been a busy week but I’m happy to say the packages are wrapped and we will be ready to celebrate for the first time on Christmas Eve.  I thought you might enjoy a tour of the living room and a bit of the kitchen.  For the most part I will just be quiet and let you enjoy.

I am so happy with the way the Welsh Cupboard came out this year.  A lot of the same accessories I keep out all year just placed differently.  And of course that large bowl w/pomegranates left over from my Thanksgiving Table well, I’m in love.  The play of textures and shape make this successful.  I brought the vintage feather tree in from the kitchen table and just placed it on a box.  My sister gifted me the Mackenzie Childs rain boots.  I just love them!

Because there is so much “busy” in the cupboard the rest of this small living room is pretty simple and quiet.  My Gabriel that I carved many years ago takes center stage in the window holding a star for the holidays.

Old book I found in my parents book stash.  Well I couldn’t let this one go!

Love this angel.  She came out of a door panel in New Orleans.  Just a bit of a surprise.  I don’t usually do angels.

Little 6″ wreath I whipped up and spritzed with some gold Glimmer Mist just to give it a whisper of color.

Pioneer Santa from Duncan Royal.  Love the way his Christmas Tree is reaching outside the cupboard.  Again it’s all about the details.  I have three of these and they are all painted so beautifully.

The Midevil Santa.  Reaching out of the cupboard he has such a quiet but haunted look about him.

The kitchen table set for six.

Absolutely thrilled with this table.  Pottery Barn Runner I bought a couple of years ago grounds this table with Mackenzie Childs Courtly Check Chargers and Spode Christmas Tree Dishes.  Napkins are a double stack with vintage fringed napkins underneath.  A playful mix of greens, ornaments and Nordic Trees creates a whimsical still life supported by a favorite hand made Santa wearing his Christmas best with his just out of bed sort of look!

A happy accident.  Love the way the vintage Shiny Bright landed at Santa’s feet.   A set of Antique English Pub Dominos made from bone add a bit of graphic whimsy around the table.  Never a dull moment while eating dinner!

Coming in from the cold a snow owl stands sentry on a box overseeing the festivities

Spode Christmas Tree

Well that’s it for now.  I hope this finds you prepared for a big weekend.  I will be back with more of the kitchen.

Thanks for stopping
