Like you need yet another Holiday House Tour!!! I’ll confess there are areas of my home where I like it more during the daytime because some of my lighting doesn’t do the holiday decorations justice, but I thought I’de give you a glimpse of the living room/dining room at the moment. What it looks like with all those dark and moody shadows.
After looking at the table one way for a couple of weeks I thought it was time to change it out and give myself a new perspective. So I set the table for Christmas Day. Though we’ll be getting together at 1:00, not with all that romance of candlelight and twinkles.
Table before the reset. Green cut velvet table runner with pomegranates, pitchers, and Santas.
Welsh Cupboard with a collection of favorites. I just tucked in some greens and a few Christmas trees. The show stopper is my dads carved swan on the top all tangled up as he glides thru the greens. He sports a lovely silk scarf with silk flowers and beads.
Here I just added some greens and a few baubles and pinecones.
A look into the cupboard of familiar favorites
Then there is the table reboot with Spode Christmas Tree dishes, Williamsburg wine glass, vintage goblets and napkins. I paired this table down, removed the bowl of pomegranates and the pitcher, added a red crewel Pottery Barn table runner, and changed out one of the Santas to a different one.
I do love the way the table sparkled in the candle light. Plates are sitting on cedar place mates I finally found at Kirklands. I absolutely love the texture against the rustisity of the table.
I tried the fairy lights on the table and decided to remove them because they were too distracting. I was surprised!
And, here is the rest of the room.
My dads Pond Sailor rests above the front door and is a favorite. I love decorating it for Christmas. This year I add the felt garland underneath and I love the texture.
Another of my dads creations this apothecary chest with the hanging cupboard above. He carved his and my moms initials on the top inside a heart. The swan is the second piece my dad carved.
A signed 18th Century English telescope sports a couple of mercury glass ornaments on a velvet ribbon.
Looking into the kitchen/ keeping room at the moment. Pennsylvania raised panel shutters and the Lion Rampant is a 250 year old tavern sign above the picture. I love him. He’s made of iron.
Glad you are here and I hope you enjoyed. Next up the lower level room.
Have a great freezing cold day. Stay safe.
Thanks for stopping
