Ok it’s the holiday season, time to deck the halls, dig down deep for the creative juices. The husband commented the other day “does it seem to you that it is taking longer this year?” What! What are you talking about, hey, I’m a one woman show. It’s just me and my toys. The husband is good at keeping the home fires burning but, he lets me create mayhem and madness. Yes it takes a good 3-4 weeks to get everything set. The energy level isn’t quite as high as it used to be or hmm, maybe I just have too much stuff. We’ll have to analyze that one. But not today. After all tomorrow is another day!
Oh back to bows. Why does everything require ribbon and bows at Christmas time. Isn’t ribbon on a package enough? Not in my world! If a bit is good, a lot is so much better. I’ve come to the conclusion, that greenery requires ribbons. All those wonderful scruffy textures require some refinement. If you’ve been with me for a while you know how I covet a beautiful silk ribbon. There is nothing that ties a more beautiful bow than silk. Of course I don’t have the luxury of all my ribbon being silk so I save my silk for the most important locations.
I’ll bet I’ve tied over a hundred bows. Most of them just simple bows. As I was making a few multi loop bows for the front door and the outdoor pots, I discovered that my hands don’t make the twists and turns required for these bows, as easily as they used too. But zip ties sure do make it easier. As I was outside in the freezing cold yesterday the wind came up and removed one of my bells from its pot. I had to go in and say “honey can you help me, the wind is taking my bells”. Hmm what to do. Of course he had the perfect solution and fixed the problem with big stake type nails in the dirt. I hope! Then I discovered the bows I had made for the door were way too small and you couldn’t really see them. Whelp another trip to Hobby Lobby! More ribbon oh joy!!!
A sneak peek to some of the things I’ve done so far. Of course I’m now at the tweaking point. That means nothing is sacred and things may and probably will change 50 times between now and Christmas.
Are you still decorating or are you done? I finally got the tree to its happy place. Home tour coming up, sometime soon! After all tomorrow IS another day!!!
Thanks for stopping
