Last Look at Christmas 2025

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with our granddaughter and the two littles. Yes, great grand boys!!! Every time the two year old opened a package he took it over to the Husband and said Poppy Do!!! What a wonderful memory. Lasagna was on the menu and we shared a lovely meal.

Rather than dismantle my vignette that I had off set on the table, I just tucked a plaid runner under it. Vintage Spode Christmas Tree is always in order for Christmas Eve. Combined with cedar placemats and Courtly Check chargers it keeps it easy. A bit of sterling for elegance!

Christmas Day my daughter and her family came with the teenage grand boys. An easy and relaxing brunch was in order. We had a great time.

Here is the question of the day! Do you decorate all your rooms for the Holidays? I don’t do a full blown look but, I do add a bit of Christmas to other rooms. Some spaces just a nod, and others a bit more. I thought I would share the nods, and the bit mores with you.

In the kitchen because of course, it is a highly functioning space it gets a nod. A small topiary bottle brush in a French onion soup bowl on the shelf, above the kitchen sink, and a couple of wreaths on the cabinet doors. They are wild and unruly and I quite love them.

The cubby the last couple of years has gotten the vintage Spode Christmas Tree with some of my ironstone with advertising. I love the ironstone and I can’t set it aside. I always have to have at least a bit of it out.

My mom’s Duncan Royal figurines come out to play. The Medieval Santa has the long beard and the most soulful eyes. The Wassail Santa is holding the big punch bowl. These figurines are all hand done and painted so beautifully. Purchased before the company went public and mass production started. The cubby is one of my simpler display cabinets but, after all, the eye does need a place to rest. Right!!!

The primary bedroom in this small house doesn’t change much from year to year. When I throw the PB quilt on the bed just before Thanksgiving, I always smile to myself and say “It’s Christmas”. Purchased about 2 years ago I just love, love, love this quilt. The shams and dust ruffle are heavy linen and made by me. I trimmed them with frayed velvet ribbon. These are on the bed all the time.

With the sheets I embroidered last year and the gnome pillow I made a few years ago, this room is relaxed and comfortable. I may retire the pillow next year, but maybe not. We’ll see!

I leave the plate wall as is because, it is hard to change. I love the earthy colors of the Royal Doulton Gipsies Circa 1900-1930. Each plate is hand painted and you see that in the shading. Some plates are more vibrant than others. The sampler is one my sister did for my mom years ago. It is a Williamsburg Reproduction and I have alway loved it. She did such a beautiful job on it and the many different stitches take talent and patience.

The addition of a couple of small trees, a felt garland on the chandelier, and a draping tea towel this room speaks Christmas.

In the main bathroom in the corner the table and mirror get dressed. A scruffy tree inside a leather fire bucket, another wreath on the mirror and some simple greens on the shelves above the toilet. Not much but just enough.

The Lower Level Powder Room also gets a few touches. A pair of mercury glass ornaments on a velvet ribbon, strung over a meat hook. A small Santa with a polar bear on a book. Wreaths on the cabinet doors. A tree in the corner in another leather fire bucket is just enough.

Every room doesn’t need to be complicated to spread holiday cheer. A decorative wreath made years ago is repurposed to hold the cloche with a birds nest in a clay pot. A black jet beaded necklace knotted, drapes over the cloche, for a bit of and then some! Love the look.

Well that’s it. Christmas 2025. I hope this gives you some ideas for next year. I want to thank you all for following along it means the world to me. Your comments keep me going. Please feel free to share. If you have questions I will respond. I’m going to sign of for this week but have a safe and fun New Year.

Thanks for stopping
